Good tidings!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all ye joyful bloggers and bloggettes! May all your prayers and dreams be answered. I am personally feeling a bit psyched right now as I have just read that it is highly likely that Casbah Club will be supporting The Who on the 2006 tour: http://www.petetownshend.co.uk/diary/display.cfm?id=227&zone=diary.
Also, there has been a cool addition to our recent online attack:
http://www.independentartistscompany.com/artist.aspx?ID=26519 Currently the number one spot is held by Rachel Fuller and Pete Townshend, which is awesome.... Let's see if we can squeeze Casbah in there somewhere - top 100 will do nicely.
I'll be checking in and updating over the festive period because I'm utterly boring and undrunk. So, if you're sober, bored and need some interaction leave me a message and I'll get back to yer! Love to you all. ST

Si,
I was excited to read Pete's message about the chance that the Casbah Club could open up for The Who. That would mean I would finally get a chance to see you perform your own material. Very cool! Did you recently leave a comment on my livejournal about the Casbah Club?? If yes I've posted a response to you on there.
All the very best to you and Janie and family. Happy Christmas and may 2006 bring you much happiness, good health and endless amounts of prosperity. You deserve it Si.
Ann
I'm really diggin' the IAC link with your songs! Thanks for posting that, I'm a little bored myself. But trying to stay positive. Took a long walk earlier, those help. I try to take a long walk everyday ( several miles).
Very good mentally/physically.
I'm excited about the news of you touring, can't wait for tour dates to come out.
I wish the best for you and your family over these holidays.:)
xoxoLisa
Ahhh but those of us who don't drink can still play a variety of board games and pursue a plethora of leisure activities during the holidays. Besides, don't you Brits have those cool crackers and puddings that you set alight?
One thing is for sure, Father Christmas defintely packs extra guitar strings and target clothing when he makes a drive by the Townshend household(s)!
Merry Merry!
In a bizarro coincidence, literally as I was reading SuperAmandas words here, the door knock, and my T and CD is here! Yeah! It's going under my little tree for tomorrow.xoxoLisa
Simon,
Here I am, sober as a church mouse, still awaiting my CD and T, and baking FAR too many mince pies. I hope my roommates are hungry this season. :D
Happy Christmas and New Year,
Jack
Loads of love to you Simon and have a good one - great news about the tour next year. It will be great. Just hope we can get good tickets!!
Apart from the Forum last year when I was about 10 feet from Pete I've always been about half a mile away!
Steve H
well...I'm sober...don't know about the rest of those things! Really hope you get the slot on The Who tour. That just makes so much sense.
I wish you all the best for the new year.
I really feel that there are great, great things in store.
who knew life could be this good.
keep rocking,
Justin
Si, You must be sober and bored to ... I'm joking. ;-) Yes, it is nice to be a part of something different. And you will indeed be a part of something truly unique, if the Who line-up is correct. In other words, soldier, you'll need two heads and four arms and to hire someone to find your feet, if you're to perform in Casbah Club andfor the Who.
I am sober and just taking a break from food prep, but Jack, if the church mouse is roaming inside a Catholic church.... ;-).
happy Christmas and new year,
-g
Merry Christmas right back at ya Si!! For sure when I am over there or if you make it here on tour first we will have to get together for sure!
You are a great guy! Keep spreading the love with your amazing music. You are beyond talented!!
xXx
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the comments in my blog! Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you too!
Hope it comes true, that Casbah Club will open shows for The Who. IF it happens, I really really hope it happens in London. I'll be trying to get tickets for the shows there.
Maria
Thanks for leaving the comment Si, just finished leaving you one back. What a great way to spend a Christmas eve, hanging around with great people.
That's great news, Simon. I'll keep an eye on tour dates, and with any luck, I'll get to see a show or two!
Thanks for stopping by the Horse's Ass Pub, and Happy Christmas, to you and yours.
I'm going to explode from excitement!!!!
This is the best news... The Who and Casbah Club together on tour!!!!
I'll try and buy tickets for as many concerts as possible! Here and abroad, that is!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I will definitely be back over here. I wish I had all of your cds now that I have heard you ;)
You are a true talent.
Please come back over to my place and visit.
Oh man, I'm really looking forward to seeing your band in the States. Sex Change is brilliant fun.

Rock on Simon! I am considering changing my blog handle, As alcohol is quickly becoming a past tense in my life. Did the booze and blow. Been there done that. I am exited about the prospect of a live show with Casbah Club. I hope to travel to at least four WHO/Casbah events,Can't wait. You're a good soul.Happy Holidays, Danny
YEAH!!!
Simon,
I am SO EXCITED about this tour. With Casbah Club along for the ride and In the Attic, life couldn't get much better!!!! :)
By the way. Did you happen to notice my last message with instructions for the backround music? I think it was posted to your last post. Ive been so busy working this holiday I havent had much time to keep track of my blogging.
I hope your Christmas turns out great!!! I know my you and the gang already fufilled afew of my holiday wishes. Thanks as always
Paul b...
PS Still waiting for my shirt and CD to come in!! I cant wait!
As a matter of fact, I am bored, sober, and in need of a little in interaction. Merry Christmas and New Year Wishes to You, Simon.
I didn't realize the Casbah tunes were on IAC to - I'm going there next.
Very exciting that you might open for The Who. Will you also be playing in The Who??? (Hopes)
I dig the shirts!
Now, this is funny to me. (Probably just to me). BUT. On my blog you spelled my name "LYN" as opposed to LIN. I was momentarily blinded by a flashback to 1987 - You signed my copy of your LP and wrote "To LINN"
and I said "1 N!" or something and your quickly drew a picture of a LINN DRUM SET next to it as if to say "I meant to do that!" LOL
Thanks for visiting my excruciatingly empty blog.

SEASON GREETINGS to all of you crazy blogger cats!
Hi Si, MERRY NOEL to you and yours and the Casbah Club gang. No smoke, no drink but lots of good times and fun. I posted some Christmas pics of vintage Beatles and some other band you might recognize on my blog. I still haven't figured out how to post the audio so no xmas music yet. Perhaps I'll figure it out in between all the eggnog and chocolate cheesecake if I don't pass out first from sugar overload.
Yes, board and parlor games rule SuperAmanda!
Si, Sing a little Xmas ditty around the tree for us!!!!
Peace on earth,
oxo Seychelle
Have a rockin' Christmas. :-)
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from sunny Perth.
Thank you for the music!

CC and the Who in 2006---you are blowing my mind!

Casbah Club and The "Bloody 'oo" on the same show?? That would be a hot, hot, hot ticket. Hotter than a firecracker up a crocodiles "#$%" especially after the Live 8 performance that drew totally rave reviews as the CD sales proved afterwards, and it would be good to see Zak and Pino performing again (you know... I thought Pino's name would have been perfect for an American Car dealership.. "Don't forget to stop by Pino Palladino Ford for your best deals on the Ford Explorer"...err, just teasing if he reads this. But until that contract is signed, lets only hope as you guys need some sort of break over here.
I read Pete's diary entry I think your nephew Joe is gonna do just fine on his exams. He'll ace them and then move forward to bigger and better things (of course Pete could always pass by the military recruiting station and just kindly mention the possible future if he doesn't pass...worked for my cousins up in Manchester).
But I'll leave Pete alone and not break down and disect to the molecule Chapter 14 in his blog until the all clear bell has rung.
Have an awesome Xmas Simon and who knows, maybe we'll meet someday if you do go on the tour. If you hit the Buffalo area, we'll have a dose of Chicken Wings together on me!!
I'll be making sure no reindeer turd falls in my backyard tonight (hell, with Google earth, you can practically see my back yard.)
Cheers
Jimbo :-p
Merry Christmas, Simon, and yes, that would be truly powerful, you opening for the Who, and Rachel and her band doing Attic shows on the road...wow!
It's been great getting to know you and your songs a bit this year, looking forward to more in the New Year.
Sober and not bored here in Minnesota, heading for San Francisco and Monterey in a couple of days.
Love,
Brina
Hi Simon,
I was so pleased when I read that on Pete's site today (although it did seem as if Pete was being a bit grumpy in his diary).
Then, I went to my mailbox and what did I discover? my signed Casbah Club CD, thank you so much.
I really hope lots of people buy your music and opening up for The Who next year widens your audience pull by thousands. You, Bruce and Mark deserve big success.
I just got back from a family Christmas party, and we took the photo album from our trip, and there are dozens of photo's from Basement Jam. I was so proud of the fact that I got to see you, Rachel, Mikey, Foy and Pete so close, it was the highlight of my year, and I'm going to be even more proud when the lights go down and I hear "Ladies & Gentlemen, from London, England please welcome Casbah Club". I just can't wait.
Happy Christmas Simon!! Cool that
you got the Mercury Lounge DVD!!
I have a request.Is it possible
to send a positive message to a
dear friend of mine that has been
down lately? Her name is Jess and
her blog address is:
http://thestorminmormon.blogspot.com/
Great stuff, Simon, and a rock and roll Christmas to you. Will start work on raising that Casbah Club track... correction! THOSE tracks! Oh dear... now do I play them all equally or play favourites?
Good morning Simon,
Well I did ask Santa for a Casbah CD but it didn't happen.
My wife didn't realize that you could only buy it on line. However, she told me the story of how she tried to buy it in HMV. She made me laugh when she told me that it almost ended up being a 'Peter Kay' comedy routine.
Wife: "Have you got anything by Simon Townshend?".
Assistant: "Simon Townshend ?????"
Wife: "Yes".
Assistant: "Simon ?????......Townshend???"
Wife: "Yes"
Assistant: "Townshend?????....Pete?????"
Wife " No ! Simon"
Assistant " Simon?????
Wife: "Yes"
Assistant: Townshend?????....Simon?????
Apparently she stood there for a good 5 minutes whilst the assistant went away to bring in other more 'expert' assistants who in turn just joined in the chorus of " Simon?????? Townshend?????.
In the end she left them all still shaking their heads. Simon???? Simon Townshend?????
Never-mind. I have no doubt what-so-ever that this time next year when she walks in it will be a different story. "Simon Townshend yeah...no problem"
Enjoy your day!
Adam & Gaynor
Brother Man....
All The best to you and your loved ones!!...I would love to see you open for The WHO...Long time coming....
Again. Grace and Peace...
To All the Vewry Best during the holidays!
Hi again Simon, Merry Christmas!
I hope this works,I took a picture of
my wearing the Casbah Club shirt.
Also I wanted to tell everyone, these sizes run big, which is great!
Anyway, hope it's going well today, I'm sober myself and happy to be that way.Thought about drinking yesterday
and quickly dismissed the idea. Drinking alone on Christmas isn't a good idea for anyone. xoxoLisa
So let's see if this worked!
Hi Simon,
What a pleasant surprise! I was just surfing around the internet, came across Pete's blog, wandered through several others and just landed up here - didn't realize you had a site - I'll bookmark it to keep up with what you're doing.
Happy Christmas! And please give my love to Janie, Paul, Sandie and Ben. The days of Woody seem so long ago now, don't they?
I look forward to listening to your CD - and to seeing your band on the road next year.
Lots of love,
Diane
PS: In order to post here, I somehow ended up with my own blog - so thanks for bringing me into the 21st century!...
PPS: I quit smoking a year and a half ago - never thought it would happen! Been sober for 8-9 years too - so congratulations.
Hi Simon
Hope you're having a good day today. I've been watching the Quadrophenia DVD today (Xmas pressie!) and believe me, you're anything but boring!
Been writing some music very much in the Casbah Club vein - wish there was someway I could play it for you.
SteveH
Merry Xmas !!
And a powerful New Year !!
Pieter.
Merry Christmas everyone! I'm away on holiday but still had to stop by and post. Thanks for the songs on IAC Simon!!! Hope all works out with The Who. Can you also play a small club date with CC around the same time as the larger venue? I was looking forward to the smaller club experience, bith would be a dream! The Fox Theater in Boulder, CO is a good venue, lots of college kids and all ages come here.
Lisa- The shirt looks great, can't wait to get home and receive my goodies.
Jim- love the analogy of the croc!
Mike- I'll try to stop by your friends site too. I was raised LDS.
Thanks for your holiday wish!
Alecia...
utterly boring (depends on who you are with!) and undrunk... but don't it make you feel good! ;-)
Hey, Merry Christmas Alecia!
And everyone: the shirt - it's long, too. The perfect nightshirt! And I'm kinda tall,5 7 it still hangs down almost mid-thigh! It was the first thing I reached for under my tree this monrning. :)
xoxo Lisa ( boring and undrunk, too)
Simon,
I got such a kick reading your post on my blog.
Thanks for making me smile, laugh and rock out. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from SimonT in 2006.
I am assuming you'll be touring too right?
Your awesome, keep it up!
Love,
Johanna in Vista
I will use only one name this time...Simon:
It takes too long to spell Townshend. OK then, thank YOU for your cheers on your blog during this special season of joy, Christmas and all!
I was reading the profile thing, and I notice you are 45. I, on the other hand, am not (48, me). Did we not just suddenly find ourselves approaching fifty? I don't even feel 40 (my body does!).
I just thought that I would throw that out there, since I am not the music maker that you are, what can I possibly do to relate, anyway?
I already recently told you that we saw you folks in 2004 with The Who, and it was very, very cool.
I am struggling to learn exactly what your sound is, in that capacity (with The Who), since it is not with YOUR band...and I am not familiar with exactly what back-up or front work you are giving to The Who.
I will try more to catch your sound, of your band, since this blog thing has opened the door to greater things.
Thank you for having a blog.
Sincerely,
--Dan L.
Merry Xmas Simon!!
Great news about The Who tour!
We have quite a year to look forward to.
love ya!
Zoe
Dan L,
check out the CD SimonTownshendIs - it is a wonderful collection of Simon's solo work. There are some awesome songs on that album, my favorite Simon songs are "Until Tomorrow", and "Save Me From Me". Until Tomorrow gives me goosebumps each time I hear it.
http://www.simontownshend.com
Simon and Pete are equally gifted as writers, Simon I think more so with a powerful singing voice. They each have their own style. I think it is extremely cool that Simon is front man for Casbah Club. Check them out on IAC, you can hear full versions of songs on there also.
Good call Gary, Save Me From Me is a bloody great tune. I think big brother is going to struggle to keep hold of Si in the future 'coz these Casbah dudes are gonna be big(ish).
Best wishes to all from Liverpool - you should all come and visit.
Paul
Great new CD. I have been a fan since the 80's. You know my cassettes are wearing out. I hope to get Sweet Sound and Moving Target on CD someday. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you in Kansas City.
Myra
Hi Simon, merry xmas to you and family. Great news about the Casbah club for next year. I am one of the lucky ones that has already seen them in Dudley this year and i was well impressed so i will be looking forward to seeing you again. Great bunch of blokes especially yourself who took time out to chat to us and Mr Foxton who i met after my band supported stiff little fingers last year. Maybe Brucie would be a good addition to The Who or is that the surprise that Pete has hinted at?
Shaun.
Simon;
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I for one am looking so forward to 2006, how about you? No doubt the Casbah Club will be possessing single digits on the IA charts as well! I too am a bit boring this holiday season, I am undrunk, well actually all I can do is drink but not beverages of the alcoholic persuasion, hell I can't eat or even talk very well. How boring is that? Fortunately I can still type! My best wishes for a wonderful New Year to you and your family!
Simon,
I sympathize with the being bored and undrunk. I don't drink either and just can't get into the party mood, I leave that to my kids. I bought a Korg Acoustic effects unit so I'll sit in a corner and amuse myself with that for the next couple of weeks.
Good news if the Casbah Club tour with The Who next year, does that mean you'll be doubling up ?
All the best for 2006
Kenny Freed
If the Casbah club support the who, does this mean you will not be playing in the Who?? I hope not, your contribution is much appreciated and admired so let's hope you can do the both.
hey simon
hope u had a great christmas! really looking forward to 2006 with The Who and Casbah Club touring, really gonna be a great year along with other things.
every time i come online i go onto IAC and play a CC song. hopefully youll get into the top 100 soon if people keep doing this!
x
p.s. just cos you don't drink, doesn't mean your boring!
Simon,
I would send some mince pies over to you, but we both know that the posties would eat them! :)
Hope you are enjoying your holidays despite the sobriety and the "boring". I'm still awaiting the CD and shirt. I will post a picture on my blog as soon as I get it. (And will let you know...) If nab says they run big it should be hilarious, I'll be swimming in it!
*sends virtual pie*
Did you get it? Hrm... darn technology just can't keep up!
Jack
How does one get one of these signed cd's I am hearing about??? I need one!!!
Do I need to send you my cd to sign?
I found and order my signed cd and t-shirt. Merry Christmas to me!!!
Now, if I could only figure out how to get it signed in person...hmmmmm
Love,
Johanna
I LOVE YOU! I have looked for your "Sweeet Sounds" on cd and can't find a copy anywhere! :(
I miss seeing you play here in Boston at the House Of Blues......now that it is no more will you ever be coming back?
Glad you are healthy and happy and excited about your new work! So am I!
Lots of love, respect and good vibes to you and yours!
Best in the New Year! Gina Marie
Simon,
I'm very much looking forward to seeing you perform with the Casbah Club and The Who in 2006.

Simon,
Aaah yes,now that xmas is out of the way I was finally able to buy the Casbah Club t-shirt and autographed CD,look forward to listening and wearing.
Hi Si,
It's been a looooooong time since my wife Anne and I had the chance to chat with you in person (I think it was Maxwell's in NJ)! Hope all is going well! We miss you and can't wait for next year's Who tour and the chance to see you perform with the Casbah Club! We are sooooo Psyched!!!!!!
We hope you and your family (say hi to Ben for us!) had a Happy Christmas and that you will have a Happy and Healthy New Year too!
Take care!!!!
Your Friends,
-Mike & Anne K.
Hey Simon!
Long time no see (VERY long...I think we last saw each other in 1997). I hope to see you perform when you some to the States again. Try to squeeze in a date in the Connecticut area for your fans here!
It's too bad that Bill and I no longer are doing Alternavision (you may remember...the music video tv show that you and Ben guest-hosted way back when), it would have been fun to have you on there again.
Hope all is well with you, Ben and the rest of the family, and here's hoping that you have a great new year! Take care!

Si
Love the EP. The songs kinda build up energy as they play.
Thanks for commenting on Jess's
blog,Simon,that was genuine of
you.Seeing there's an influx
of Mikes,I've added and S to
my name(Starke)just to separate
the identity a bit :)
Simon,
Welcome back!!! im so excited for you and the band. im not sure if you remember me& my friend monica from Usairways who looked like liz Talor. we met you with the who years ago in the states.
any way im so glad your back touring. your a great talent!!!!
My husband and i were just listening to your CD other day. and i was wondering if you were playing any more.I hope Casbah club is a great success for you. you deserve it after all your hard work and patience.hope to see you tour in the states soon. good luck in 2006ect... and God Bless the Casbah Club.. Lisa
with nothing to declare but my ears i hereby conclude that Simons stuff is more melodic, more hooky and accessible lyrically than pete's. You cant whistle a who song can you, try not whistling ST when you hear it. good choice of faves Gary Simontownsendis is a brilliant album, i like 'the way it is' and my all time fave Ecstacy heaven. the verse is beautiful, it then takes you too the main hook for me that great bridge and then steps up into the chorus and each one just gets better and better its an epic tune. I brought among us at the same time, love the production on them both as well.....blah blah im boring myself now lol
oops left out my point in comparing them both- yes the who are about rythm to me energy and all that, simons are more crafted perfect pop/rock tunes if you know what i mean. Poles apart.
Hi Simon!
Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I'm playing catch up...I've been incredibly busy, natch, but it's all good...family, friends, what more could I want?
I am VERY excited for you and the Casbah Club supporting the Who!
Can't wait. I've been telling lots of bloggers to convene in L.A. when you guys come. That will be very cool.
Hope you had a nice undrunk XMAS, and all the best for 2006. It's going to be a great year, I can feel it.
Peace and all that jazz,
Sue
PS I need to order my T! I'm feeling left out here... :)
Ooh I forgot! Funny story.I overheard my little girl (she's 7) was talking to her friend in the car about a month ago. She was talking about Pete. Her friend asked,"who's Pete Townshend?" and Anjoli said, "Oh, he's Simon Townshend's brother."
;)
Greetings Simon!
Hope you and yours had a great Christmas and have a happy New Year!
By the way, I just received the live Quadrophenia DVD, and it's nice to finally have a document of the show! Great playing, and a bit of nice nostalgia to see the "STB" logo on the guitar!
Ryan
Simon,
Congratulations on touring again with the Who. I will certainly be there! I wrote to you several years ago from the Mississippi Delta(in fact it was right after 9/11). Things are pretty horrible here after the Hurricane. I wonder if the world knows that the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast was washed away. It looks like a nuclear bomb went off. Oh, and our dear New Orleans - it will never be the same. Anyway, it was welcome news to receive the email about your new band and CD. I very much enjoy your music and I have been hoping that you would release another cd.
Happy New Year!
Such great reviews of Simon Townshend is, I purchased a CD today! Raised is even more beautiful than Next Fly - love them both though. Bare Assets sounds good on the link, still love the performance on The Attic Xmas Special! That's funny I thought the lyric was Bare Essence! Hmmm, that's not bad either. :-)
Simon, still not sure if you are ok with the "Assets" link. I would like to share it on my music blog and seeing as you did not delete it I guess you are ok with it? I also captured Vibrate per Lisa's request. I could provide a link to it as well but don't know if you ok with that either.
Got the baseball shirts in before the Lmtd CD and Blk shirt. Still waiting for that one, guess it had to cross the pond - hope it didn't drop in!
Here's my boy sporting his new rags. I'll have to alter the top, it seems the Medium baseball style tee fits better to a man's chest not a woman's. Since I am not going to get a sex change, I'll do the nip and tuck to the garment instead!

Hi Simon,
Good to see your website is back!!! I like the changes you have done. I hope to get to see your band Casbah Club some time next year 'cause I missed out on it this year.
The news that your band will be the support act for The Who is fantastic news!!!
Love,
Yolanda from Holland
Hi Alecia! :)
I just don't know if he likes the idea
of those links.I kind of almost think he doesn't.
Obviously that's more my speculation.
Hope you had a good holiday everyone.
xoxoLisa
WELCOME BACK SIMON....!!!!! you've been missed! great news. know you've been having fun with the attic, and really really have enjoyed hearing you play.... looking forward to this!!!!
lots of love, lisa seckler-roode AND taylor roode!!!!!
such good news!!!!
Hi Simon -hope you're enjoying the festivities - did you catch The Great Escape on Monday??
How's the CC album coming along?
How many tracks have you recorded so far?
Finally got my own blog up and running - am I fick or what?!
PaulBLpool
Hi Lisa - I think you may be right, just checking though.
Of course right after I wrote about not receiving the Lmtd package, along it came! It arrived in my mailbox along with the Tony Lowe CD I also ordered. I did not know the ST connection except I saw a post of his on this blog, followed his profile link to his site, listened to his stuff for a bit and loved it so much, I ordered Shadowbird. This blogging thing is cool.
Listened to the CC Lmtd CD first cause I was in the mood while working, played it loud and tried to keep working, not dancing!
As usual feel compelled to remark...
Sex Change - Any ideas how to explain this to a 6 year old boy... as she sings at the top of her lungs "I Wanna Sex Change!" :-) J/K I can handle it!
When She Sleeps - No offense but Who-ever "she" is - is/was a FOOL!
Anyway She Moves - Dance Anyone?
Venustraphobia - My favorite! Can I just pretend its me? LOL!! For good or bad, this one I HAVE to sing along to. I love the flow of this one.
Save Me From Me - Can't stop moving here - like a go-go! There's an idea for your stage show! 1 guy and 1 girl in separate cages descending from above. Oh wait that's like Spinal Tap, sort of!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH HAPPY DANCE!!! Sweet Sound hopefully on CD!!! OH to hear Mr Sunday without a skip 4th line in! Bless You! Bless YOU!!!
By the way- you would be surprised how many 10 year olds have no idea what a reocrd is! LOL! We are not old, just older. LOL!!!! Thank you kind sir!!!!
So Simon,
No qualms about playing with both bands every night on tour? Eddie Vedder's as close as anyone's ever come to play their own band and then The Who and he only did a couple of shows and only a couple of songs with The Who. You may want to start the finger and throat exercises now!
Simon,
John Sullivan here (formerly of Ginger Moon) in NYC...how are ya?
Congrats on the band. If you need a warmup band to go on before you go on, tell the powers that be that we'll do it for free! In the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut tri-state area, I know we can bring down a ton of folks for any gig you need an opening band.
Check out my blog when you can. And my website -- The John Sullivan Brigade -- has some audioclips on it. We're also up on Apple iTunes.
Good luck in 2006 and hope to see you soon.
best,
Sully

I'm glad you had a good Christmas, I did too for the most part. Very exciting to hear about the Who tour. I think Casbah Club would be a great opener :) I'm moving to California pretty soon so I guess I'll be seeing the show at the Hollywood Bowl. I'll be looking forward to it.(never have, but always wanted to see the Who live)
Anyway good luck and have a Happy New Year!!
Hope you and your children had a good one and the sober thing is hard, really hard but hey will keep trying. From Chris who sends you the occasional magazine. PS Happy New Year to you and Paul and Family.
Hi Simon,
You sound so great and happy, I could see you as I was reading this post. Sooooo very exciting about you guys opening for The Who...WOW!!!! how very cool. Usually I just skip the opening act but now it will be well worth watching. Merry, Happy and have a terrific sober New Year. That's what we are doing. My John just celebrated 16 years sober.
XOXGigi
Huh! There I was saying bored and sober - write me and I'll interact.... Where the hell have I been?? Believe me, I've been reading the entries daily but way too chilled out to respond. Christmas has been really good, no stress at all which is quite unusual - that's including the 4 trips I made to central London to have my Apple Mac upgraded / fixed and it still doesn't work. I don't care. What will be will be. I'm working on another new song and it really excites me - fingers crossed it will arrive any moment.
Ann - not sure if I left a comment about CC on your livejournal?? What is the URL so I can take a look?
Hey Amanda - we had really great crackers this year that came with 8 numbered whistles each tuned to a note in the major scale and some song sheets.... guess who was conductor? Christmas pud tasted like it had too much Brandy in it so I ate the whole thing ;-)
Thanks Paul B for background music instructions. I'll take a look.
Hi Lin, Delbut and Johanna - Yeah, playing with The Who as usual.
Hi Diane - welcome to the world of blogging. Have fun!
Hi Dan - I really don't feel my age. I have a mental age of 19.... always will.
Hi Shaun - No, to that one. Pino is playing bass with The Who - good thought though.
Hi Meg - I'm looking forward to recording new material and doing as many gigs as possible. I really want to maximise the year....
...and Kenny, my role in The Who is only supportive - I back up on the vocals and play a few chunky chord parts while Pete solos - a totally easy gig compared to fronting a band. I can handle it.
Jack - the virtual pie tasted virtually good.
Johanna - signed CD on its way to you :-)
Hi Gina Marie - I'm stunned! House Of Blues in Boston is no more? Tragic. That was one of my favourite places to play and a wonderful, wonderful back stage atmosphere. Such great memories from there. Now I am sad. Glad you love Sweet Sound and me - we are a perfect match.
Hi Sean - Good to hear from you. I remember Alternavision. How is it going? Still doing the show or what?
Nice story Sue - doesn't happen often. Cool.
Hey Seychelle - New Year... Perhaps drive through London, watch the fireworks at the London Eye then drive past Buckingham Palace and the Houses Of Parliament - watch all the kids partying on the streets. Definitely blast some music out of the car stereo too. Its a great vibe and my favourite thing to do at New Year.
Hi Alicia - I'm cool with any links as long as you think it does me justice?? Follow your heart. Like your song comments - dunno what to say about Sex Change... it's just a crazy lyric that people like to sing along with.
Hi Paul - We have an album recorded that needs remixing which will not take long. I also want to record a new album in January / February. It is time for me to do some new material.
Brian - As I said earlier, it's cool as The Who gig is not hard work - easy, fun stuff where I just stand at the back and look cool. The hard work is done by my big bruv and Rog.... it's a ride for the rest of us.
To you all - Happy New Year!! I have read ALL your kind words. Nothing has gone unnoticed. You are all special. Thanks so much for being there.
Simon - merry christmas dude.
max and JOHN Brawley
You have a Happy New Year also Simon. Hope you enjoyed your lunch at Pete and Rachels today. I have no clue yet what I'll do on New Years Eve. I guess I'll go down to the fire station with the guys (and gals) and toast in 2006 with them. Haven't decided yet. Just imagine if we get an alarm and have to respond! One arm holding on to the truck and the other a bottle of champagne.
Cheers anyway!
Jimbo :-p
Best not to follow MY heart that could lead to trouble! Beside my heart would say - it's all good Simon.
I think the repro I have of Vibrate does not do YOU justice. Probably better to wait for the DVD. The emotion behind the performance of Bare Assets completely overshadows the poor audio/video quality so I still feel happy to share it. If others are as touched as I was, better be ready - your going to have quite a few more fans to contend with!
For the longtime Who fans, check out a post I just made to my poetry blog http://mybookofstories.blogspot.com/
I think many of the ladies will relate!
Have a great New Years everyone, I'll be watching the fireworks over a frozen lake in the high Colorado mountains. Ta!
Reasons to be cheerful:
1) New Casbah Club CD rocks.
2) Rumors of Casbah Club / Who tour continue to heat up.
2006 will be a very good year Si
Happy New Year!!
Simon I gave my blog a Casbah makeover when my CD came in!!
Happy New Year to you and your family Simon. Thanks for all the great music.
Hello Simon,
I know what I have been wanting to ask you...are you reading or have you read TBWHM?
Maybe someone has already asked. Just curious.
Happy New Year!
-g+bb
How exciting Simon. You will be very very tired. I got the WHO Tommy/Quadrophenia DVD the tour you did with them you looked the same as you do now. I don't know if I told you this but I did the merchandising on those tours in the eastern US shows. Cant wait to see you in 2006 The Quadrophenia was my favorite and you were great. Ive been a long time fan and still am. Now my wife is.....michael :)
PS Im also sober and clean for 5 years now....I think. I feel so much better now that I have been clean. The Methadone was the worste thing I ever did. I should have went a different route. But some of my better songs came from the experience but thats about it nothing else was good at all...michael :)
uppowHi Simon,
I checked out 'checkemlads.com' and it was interesting to note that one of the names painted on the wall is Mr. Paul Weller.. Interesting site indeed. Will have to check em later.
:-)
have a GREAT new year!
ok..Simon, you just made my day again.
I can't wait to get my CD :)
I can't wait to wear my Casbah Club t-shirt too!!!
I'm happy now. Thanks Simont. Your the best.
Love,
Johanna
Thanks Si for destroying my passion for my daughter to play the piano professionally! Your uplifting words will haunt me forever... ROFL what a nut you are with that comment. You had me rollin'!! Happy New Year!!
X-Molly
Can't wait to see The Who and Casbah Club in the summer. (if it's true that you guys will be opening). Will be my second time seeing The Who and first time seeing your band, or any of your bands...I've only just recently "discovered" so I look forward to it.
So here's a question I've been wondering about that may or may not have anything to do with anything if you don't mind. You were credited as the producer on Real Good Looking Boy and Old Red Wine, Maybe a dumb question, but what exactly does that mean? The "producer" title is something that's never been real clear to me. Are you involved on the technical side of things, or is it more about suggestions as to what would make the songs sound better or how things should be played/arranged etc?
Is it likely that you will be producing future Who material as well? If so, see what you can do to get Pete's "Marty Robbins" song on the album. It may not be the most traditionally "Who" sounding song, but neither were Sunrise or Blue Red and Grey, and those are among my favorite songs on their respective albums.
Anyhoo...on a more you related note and less Who, the Casbah Club samples sound great. I'm definetely gonna have to check out the CD.
Super Simon

Just wanted to let you know that we finally had a chance to watch the Quad DVD that Santa brought....you were on fire! Job well done. Santa was very generous with 3 of your CD's as well. I am having a hard time getting past the back cover of Bare Assets!!!! HOT is all I can say. Good Lord...I may have to send that for a autograph if you wouldn't mind. I am happy to say that I got your autograph on The Who Quadrophinia program from a show you did in West Palm Beach Florida--yes we flew from Texas just to see it! Brings tears to my eyes just remembering... I am really looking forward to 2006. I have a good feeling that it will be a banner year for The Who, Rachel, and needless to say Simon Townshend!
I wish you all the best in 2006
Happy New Year
Belinda

Happy New Year Simon!
Oh what a party. Tons of food (shrimp, chicken wings, beef on wecks) and drinks (vodka and iced tea, fuzzy navels, you name it). Too bad it's only once a year.
Well, 2006 got off to a great start, I got my lay off notice Friday. Starts 2/28. Another 6 month vacation on unenjoyment (unemployment). Hey Simon, need a towel boy for the upcoming tour? Or even a water boy? I can make great water!
Jimbo :P
Just ordered the EP...it'll be cool to hear you in a trio format.
Rabbit was kind enough to play on our album, and we're trying to line up at least one live date with him this year, so if playing to 20,000 people gets boring, please come down to the club and show us how it's done.
ON THE AIR!
Happy New Year Simon.I have a few
new pics of you up on my blog if
you want to check it out.Cheers
mate!
Si,
Happy New Year...now how the heck are you going to do two shows in one night on a regular basis? Sounds daunting!

Best of health and happiness to you and your family,
Jack
Simon,
Thanks for the comments on my music.
I'm looking forward to hearing Vibrate on a CD. Your acoustic version on the Christmas special was huge.
Happy New Year. I hope it brings you all things wonderful!
Ali
Currently on IAC on the "all genres" chart Casbah Club is holding spots: #3,#7,#12,and #20 (not a bad way to start the new year)
Congratulations! :)
Here is to a superb new year to you and yours Simon!
Best of luck with the band as well!
Corie and Dave...
Simon,
Thankyou. :)
When She Sleeps is a personal favorite of mine at the moment. I love the groove to it.
Can't wait to hear some of the new stuff you're working on!
Jack
Happy New Year Simon!
Glad you liked my story. I wasn't sure if I told you that already. My mind is not what it used to be. :(
Take care,
Sue
Happy New Year guys - hope everyone has a good one.
Just had a delivery of 5 ST CDs so guess that ties me up for a while!
HAPPY NEW YEAR Si and all you bloggers. Hope it's a good one for you all.
Tone
Simon
Happened on your website over the festive season and downloaded the "Live at the Astoria" set. Just wanted to say that "Way It Is" is one of the most finely crafted and beautifully performed songs I have heard in a long time.
Joe
Hey Tone - Thanks dude! U ROCK!
Hey Joe - I was the first ever person to visit your blog so does that mean you set up blog just to leave a comment on mine?
Simon
Thanks for the response. Yes I did set up the account just to leave a comment. Rich praise indeed as it is not something that I would normally do.
As I said, loved the performance and appreciate the opportunity to make contact.
A new fan.
Joe
