Get Well Soon

QUO Tour cancelled
Statement from the support band THE CASBAH CLUB

We were totally shocked when Rick came into our dressing room last night to tell us the news. Rick, Francis, John, Andrew, Matt and all the crew from Quo made us feel so welcome, like family. It was an honour to perform with them.
We wish Rick a speedy recovery and send our love to Patti and family from Simon, Bruce, Mark and our families.

Reposting from back end of last thread:

Hi Simon,
So sorry to hear the tour has been cancelled, please, if you do get a message to Rick, add the sincere, heartfelt good wishes from his very many fans, and of course to Francis and all of the Quo team and their families.

We are involved in IT, but have medical backgrounds as well, and there is only one way to meet malignant cancer, if that is indeed the final diagnosis, and that is head on. Rick may a very serious battle on his hands now, and we pray that he gets through it, stays 100% positive, and reaches remission, but it also has to be also realised that if it is throat cancer, that is all too often very found to be relatively aggressive form of the disease, hopefully they have reached it early.

(For those who my not have heard yet - the Status Quo/Casbah Club tour has been officially cancelled due to Rick Parfitt being diagnosed with a throat condition that is being reported in the various media as being 'probably a malignant throat tumour').

Right now, Rick needs the unconditional support of every single one of us.

We well recall attending a Quo gig while working in the Sultanate Of Oman back in 1987, much of the audience was seated on a very poorly covered swimming pool, and Rick was making gestures with his hands that indicated the temporary flooring was rising and falling rather rapidly due to the audience reaction, and commented 'just as well you've all had a few tonight to steady the old nerves!'. Happier days, and long may they continue.

We were due to start catching the tour tonight, at Brigton, then the NEC, BIC an Wembley shows.

Simon - best wishes to you, Mark, Bruce, it must have been an upsetting shock for you guys also, and we are feeling for you all at this time.

Take care, hope to see you again soon,
Kim and Lester

Hello Simon

I trust all will be well.

Downloaded the Astoria gig, really enjoying it, your voice is great.

To be honest, you stole the show at Basement Jam. I did manage to say hello, but whenever I meet talent I can never put across what I want to say, nervous I guess.

Looking forward to hearing more of your music, thanks for making it easily available.

Kind regards

Hi Paul B - the order is great, Rick's news isn't. Obviously I'm really worried. I tell you, he is one of the nicest people I've ever met - and I really mean that. I've known him for a week and I care deeply about his future and what he has to go through in the near future. Si

I'm not a massive Quo fan; their early stuff was good, but this is not good news. The Quo are an integral part of british music. They are good, genuine people. I hope for the best.

I'm waiting for the BJ loop and wanted to say hi. This is indeed sad news. I'm sorry that the tour was cancelled.
And I'm very sorry for Rick.
I can only see him playing, singing, rocking.
Status Quo have millions of fans, so hopefully that positive energy around him will help him get through this difficult situation.

Take care,

Sorry for Rick, and I'm sorry for the tour too. Nottingham were lucky to see the billing: the Casbah Club and Status Quo.

My best to Rick, to his health, and to you and yours and the rest of the boys.

I knew the tour was canceled but I thought maybe it was a secret inner-conflict thing within the band. Sorry I can't
give more than positive thoughts and wishes for all involved. :(

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the comments, those wishing Rick Parfitt well and those re: Basement Jam performance. I am feeling fine, not disappointed about tour being cancelled at all, just worried for Rick. Right now we are positive, planning for next year - there are many cool opportunities to choose from. Our CD is selling well online ( which is great as that's what this is all about.... music!

Alicia - I guess the song you're referring to is 'Comeback' if it's from the Basement Jam loop. Another song of mine with the lyric, "Gonna get myself on track" is 'Ages', title track of the Ages disc available at my website. Cheers.

Hi Simon... thanks for reading my blog and commenting on my tales of spending my 21st birthday with the Jam! I am now reading your blog and your website and catching up on the Casbah Club. Sorry to hear about the Quo tour... hope Rick gets better soon.

Now I will check to see if Casbah Club might be coming over to the USA..

Thanks again... give my best regards to Bruce from the really drunk girl in LA from 1978 who celebrated her 21st birthday with him

my heartfelt best wishes to Rick and his band, I was sorry to learn of this through a mate I visited today.

It was a pleasure meeting you personally Simon, thank you for signing my CD, I will treasure it. Best of luck to Casbah Club, my mate Paul Mossop, who wasn't a mod like me, told me a nice story of sharing a pint with Bruce a while back. As I expected, he told me he was a top man.
