On the Music Front

I will be playing a few songs at The Bedford in Balham tomorrow with Rachel Fuller and her band, Mikey and Foy Vance. Big bruv is playing too but only one song - that's a clue. We had a rehearsal today and everything worked. Good vibe!

Sounds like a wonderful time. Wish I could go. Is it just going to be you or your band too? Do you know what you are going to play?

No band, just liddle ole me. I haven't decided what to play yet.... Perhaps you and any other kind fellow bloggers could help me pick the winners. It's always the hardest bit choosing the set list. I only have a 20 minute slot but would like to use it to maximum effect.

I dunno if this is the name of it, but I like "Come Back" (the one with the guitar thing that you do)
(sorry, I have no idea how to explain that.)
It got stuck in my head from last week and it's my kind of guitar playing.
Good luck with the show!

Have fun at the show. I wish I wasn't so far away. Do you ever play in the US?

Hi Simon-
Thanks for the feedback on my story :) and...
for your many years of faithfull and loyal service on stages around the globe, including Rachel's Attic.
I've never look at a bus driver's cap in the same way since.

I swear, if you tour with Status Quo you will be cooler than Nigel Tufnel and i will be green with envy. But if you ever do a remake of Suzi Quatro's 'Can The Can' with an electric violin and Lemmy on backing vocals, then I'm toast!

Welcome to blogland mate!

Hi Simon, I only know the songs you played last week on the webcast, but all of those are winners. So you can't go wrong. I imagine you have lots more where they came from.

What a great night it will be! And a good bunch of bloggers coming too.

The rest of us will be there in spirit and Rachel has promised to videotape the show.

Have a blast!

Meant to say in response to earlier posts that I too am proud of you for giving up drinking and smoking. That's huge. And you are certainly not boring!

My initial suggestions are:

Dirty Jobs (as you do the definitive version -- no offense, Roger!)
On the Scaffolding
I'm the Answer (but of course!)

Have a great show, I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead (or at least, semi-comatose)!

Simon, have fun at the Bedford gig tomorrow. That's really cool that you will perform too! I can't wait to watch the video!

I thought you were really great on In the Attic last week. You are so talented! All of your songs were so great! I hope you make another appearance soon!

Alot of you are discovering Simon's talents, but you need to do more than just make "Oh I love
you" comments.Artists need
your support.How about buying
a CD called 'SimonTownshendis'?
You can get it at
for a measley $12 US.

Ok Simon. Thanks for asking us. I love so many of your songs. I will try to list a few that are my faves. Comeback
The Way It Is
No More Never
Ecstasy Heaven
On The Scaffolding always takes me away to the world that the song creates. It's very captivating. That very well may be my very favorite song from you.
Frustrated Hearts
Mr. Sunday...Ok, how about just about anything from the Sweet Sound album! There. I will be quiet now before I just list every song that you have!
Oh, and how about if I ever am in the same building as you some day, I can sing to you, "Meet You"! : )
Have a blast Simon!

Hey Simon, what songs of yours are your favorites and why? Perhaps sometime you can tell us any neat stories you'd like to share about inspiration for any of your songs or cool stories about how you came to write something. Any stories along those lines would be very interesting!

Sorry I'm gonna miss it. If doing your own, how about;

The Way It Is
I'm The Answer

If you're doing Jam material;

Pretty Green
Boy About Town
Eton Rifles

Really cool that you are blogging Simon. I can't wait until your Casbah Club web site is up and we can learn more about the album. I hope someone gets some video from the gig so we can spy some of the action from America.

Good Luck

All the best Simon!
Of course I'd play "I'm the Answer" - but I liked everything you played in the attic...Misery sounded great, also (it's Mikey's I know).
I'm so glad Rachel is taping it for us.
Do we love her or what?
I'm happy for the fellow bloggers and all you guys.
It's pretty cosmic!
Have fun-

So i read your profile and if you're a Libra then you are having or recently had a birthday, correct?

Well here is a party tune I sing. Okay, so it sounds like I had hormone treatments when compared with you and brother homeslice's crystalline range but I swear nail that falsetto someday...

Love the picture, you look great!

How about these songs for the setlist?

-Anything That Moves
-There's a Girl
-20 to 11
-Time the Healer

Or how about dusting off the "band in the box" and playing some of the material? I'm sure whatever you decide on it will be a huge hit.

Have fun at the gig.

Anyway, have a great show.

Hi Simon,

Have fun at the gig! Just my luck, will be in London only next week. I'm only in the process of acquiring your music so I couldn't suggest anything. Hopefully the ones who'll miss the show will be able to see your set otherwise, on Who TV or wherever.

Only one song from Pete, that's a shame.
As much as I like Rachel, would rather hear one song from her and full gig with you and Pete. :-)

This is going to sound so silly. I feel so stupid saying this in front of everyone, but I am starting to feel a little guilty so I'm going to change a little bit. As soon as you got this blog I have been so excited about having contact with you and I have been kind of flirting. I don't know if you and everyone else can see it or not, but I've been feeling it big time in my heart whether it's been coming out strong in my posts or not. AND, my sweet, wonderful man, the love of my life, is so trusting and so cool when I tell him all the people I have conversations with on various blogs, many of them male and he is so not a jerk or jealous or anything. He really trusts me and loves me. I love him too, so incredibly much. I do not want to abuse his trust. If he read what I have been saying to you, I'm sure he would be hurt. (Not everything I write, just some things.) Even though he's not reading it, I should just control my words and my feelings for you. Sorry Simon for just going gaga over you. I even had a dream about you last night. So from now on, when I go gaga over you, it will be for your talent and not all that other stuff. I love my man. I really, really love my man!!! Have a great gig today!

Dear Simon

This is getting ridiculous... Only in the funny sense, though. I am new to computer blogging/messaging, so I hope I don't lose track of who I have been in correspondence with. It's like a family tree with all the branches. (I guess it almost is, considering you & Pete are brothers!)

At the centre are Pete & Rachel, but it is so interesting where this has taken me.

I'm a regular mum-type (3 kids), but we live in a pretty amazing place, the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Therefore, we do some pretty amazing things - our favourites being mountain biking & skiing.
My husband was in a band in Toronto back in the 1980's, but he now jams once a week with some friends. (He mainly plays bass, but the house is filled with all sorts of guitars, it seems).

Our lives seem so removed from your London scene, yet I think it is good to be out of the box sometimes. One never stops learning.

Hope you had a great time at the gig tonight! (It's about 1:00 a.m. your time).

Hi stfan (name changed by default). I like all this attention you're giving me. Don't stop just 'cause you have a faithful, loving, reliable, gorgeous, sexy, sweet, sensible, charming, rock of a husband - I am 'intrigued' but I guess I'm none of those things that you really adore about him... x

Hey Seychelle - Great idea to play When I'm A Man.... maybe next week on WhoTV.

Amanda - Another cool idea to sing Dirty Jobs. Thanks for that. By the way, that is one awesome picture of yourself.

Kara - I do play in the U.S every few years. We'll be over touring next year.

Hi Ann - I'm using quite a fair amount of the .bom material. There is another albums worth there yet.

...and you Storm and Molly - thanks for posting beautiful pics I can stare at for days on end

Thank you Simon for the compliment. There are more pics to "stare at" on my blog (hint hint -just kidding (I think) You flatter this married girl!
