Art For Art's Sake

I love this Adobe art program! Already spending far too long messing around with ideas. This one was knocked up by a good friend of mine who has nothing better to do with his time either - actually he probably has but I just continually hassle him until he delivers. As usual he has done the business. I think this is right on target!

hey Simon
think the logo is well cool! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, I was gutted that I didn’t meet you on Tuesday, but after you played I lost sight of you. Will definitely make sure I meet you next time I see you play! I was wondering if you know where I can buy your album ‘Among us’? as I’ve looked every where for it but can’t find it! Got the song ‘way it is’ stuck in my head after hearing you play on Tuesday!

I'm here with my friend Bunny, she's not a blogger but she is so HOT for you! She's begging me to let her know when SIMON TOWNSHEND is coming to the
USA. I told her to have patience, you'll be here soon.
She went to London this summer, and went to many pubs in the Westend and can't believe she didn't bump into you. Could you please explain to this poor girl, that London is a BIG place. But she wants to share a pint and a Potatoe Jacket with you ( lol), I am in no way advocating this minor crush my best friend just developed, but i'm spreading the good cheer!
Much luck and come here soon!

I like this logo better than the other one. I like the colors and the target. Matches your shirt, which I'm sure you told your friend that it had to match your shirt! Ha!

Dear Simon

I've seen that target somewhere...

I like it better than the previous one. Still not able to listen to your music.
My computer is old, low on memory & then my mouse went entirely beserk. It became possessed yesterday - took off on its own & clicked on things I had no idea even existed, so I bought a new one. This one is better, but still slightly demented. Might have a virus or two.
I'm hanging in there & looking forward to maybe seeing you
"In The Attic", if I can find a decent computer...

I had no idea there were so many girls HOT for you! I'm getting a real kick out of it, as I'm sure you are. Be flattered!
I was hot for your older brother Pete way back when he was a young rocker. (Of course, I still love him).
Funny how history has a tendency to repeat itself...

I think this one is a winner, real mod looking. The CD's could be really cool looking with this art as well.

Someone gave me a Polygram Video CD of PT Live a bunch of years ago. You had to have a Philips Video CD player to watch it, which I didn't. Well, I just discovered I can play it in my computer, and I'm real chuffed. Pete plays stuff from Psychoderelict as well as his solo stuff and some Who tunes.

You've got tons of experience as a producer. Do you have any recommendations on microphones to use for home recording? I have cheap AKG D590S and I can't seem to get a vibrant sound when recording accoustic guitar or vocals. I've shopped around and prices vary greatly, but I'm not real sure what I should be looking for.

I'm glad we can blog you with feedback, hope you don't get bored with us.

Cheers.

I really get carried away with applications like Adobe and Photoshop. I can literally spend days focusing on them.

Love the logo! Excellent job!

You have the latest full version of Photoshop? (*envy*). I love Photoshop. Unfortunately, I only have the very first (ancient) version of Elements.
I wish I could upgrade! The newest one only operates on Windows XP - and I am still stuck in Windows 98.
I amuse myself and waste a lot of time with photos of my pets - then I post 'em at cafepress.com.

Hey Simon,

Yea Adobe Photo shop is cool. I like it a lot. I have been playing with another graphics suite lately. It is called Micro Graph-X. Man it sure has all the bells a whistles. I did all the graphics on my business website with it. You can check them out at http://sacho.com if you like. Can even do animations with it. Cool logo. Have a good one. Peace.

Simon,
For Art's sake I like the two you posted today. But, to be honest, if you're looking to brand your band I would go with the one from yesterday or something a little less "early Who" like. Just my 2 cents.

I like the one where the second word "club" is actually in the circle.

Just MY opinion ;)

Yeah, I like it when the CLUB fits inside the blue part, too. Such technical graphic-design speak, there!

Simon, did I read that your son played or plays in a band with you? He's not in Casbah Club, is he? That would be interesting.

Today I watched a video of my son singing with his band, at their first gig which was last weekend. It was wild! He surprised me. He has what I guess you'd call presence. He reminded me of Iggy mixed with Jim Morrison. (He's a skinny long-legged kid.) It was nothing like watching him sing at home. I guess he likes an audience of teenage girls!

Hope your weekend has been a good one.

Ok, I love the original target one because I love the colors and I love the Who and it reminds me of the Who. But then I agree with what Andy says because , well, it reminds me of the Who, not YOUR band. The different colored logos do give different feels, like the target one (ala Moving Tagert as well?) feels more Whoish and the other one with grey is more Clash like.. Ooh, does your band play Rock the Casbah? Just kidding! So I guess which one fits the feel of the music your band plays.

If you like the target one with the blue as well, I prefer the 1st one with the words exceeding the boundries just like I'm sure your band would like to exceed the boundries with their music. The one where the words are totally in the circle I think the words are too small. (Can't have things too small now, can we?) Plus, since the black star is already exceeding boundries, why have the words be confined? It gives me a sense of being confined.

One more thing about the Club part that exceeds the circle. Perhaps lessen the spacing between the two words. If Club was moved a little bit higher towards Casbah, that might look nice. Just be careful when moving it that the bottom of the C (of Club) is not right on the edge of the blue line. Just slightly in the blue or out of the blue, not right on the line. you know?

I like how the two words do not share a common right margin. I like how Club is a bit further out than Casbah. Makes it alive and artistic rather than administrative (for lack of a better word.)

Sorry if this is over analyzing. Just if you're going to give us a choice, may as well look hard at it cuz it IS representing your band.

For what it's worth, take it or leave it, my friend. I won't be offended either way.

Yes, Simon, I mean no offense but the newer designs remind me of The Who, and you don't want your band to be identified with them. The Clash's logos are more in keeping step with your sort of combat rock. I hear London calling now, I must get back to the garden.

I actually like the first one better. It draws the attention to the name instead of just the target. It creates a little more interest. Basically, I just don't like perfect symmetry, it seems a little too clean for rock and roll. But, that's just my opinion.

Thanks everyone for the useful comments. So you know, I probably would never have considered using a target as my band logo but since the original star is still in there (even though it's now upside down) I do feel having worked with The Who for the last 9 years it somehow feels right. I mean, I wear a target T-shirt all the time. Infact my mum claims to have designed the first target T-shirt for Kieth Moon?? That's probably stretching the truth a little. Anyway, Bruce Foxton is a Mod.... so there! Once again, thanks for the creative feedback.
